Galen Wayne Masterson

Galen was a sixth-grader at Madison Middle School when he was killed on 11-22-02. I had heard he was on his way to school that morning when he and a friend of his decided to cross the interstate to take a shortcut. But later I found out that he and the boy he was with were playing Chicken on the highway and the boy may have pushed Galen.

The boy that was with Galen ran and left my son on that highway, not telling a soul that he had just been hit. The teachers claimed the boy was playing around like nothing had ever happened.

Galen loved to play the violin and was getting very good at it. He was a very kind and very well-loved boy by all who knew him, and even some that never got to know him. He loved the outdoors and playing with his friends. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Galen's spirit lives on in his baby brother, Gavin, who was born one week to the day that Galen died. Galen will always be remembered as a very loving child with great talent.
